Air-Conditioned Van for
Blood Donation Camps

Valsad Raktdan Kendra Regional Blood Transfusion Center and Hematological Research Center, at Valsad, Gujarat, received a new custom-made air-conditioned “Van for Blood Donation Camps”, for out-door camps. The van has unique feature that solar energy is used for operation of two refrigerators (used for cold chain maintenance) and charging of equipments like blood collection monitors and tube sealers using multi functional timers.

There is sitting arrangement for 12 staff members + driver in front cabin. The backside cabin is for all equipments needed for blood donation camps. There are cabinets for each equipment with plug socket and switch for charging. No need to take them in blood bank for charging.

The energy from solar will also be used, daily in the evening, for blood donor motivation ( प्रचार प्रसार अभियान ) by lighting outside of vehicle with posters, slogans and short films on television with megaphone by using multitask timers.

The van will also be used for supplying blood to our 10 FRU, blood storage centers, in tribal areas of Valsad & The Dang districts maintaining cold chain.
